We’re finally ice-free, so join us at NERYC for Laser Frostbite sailing tomorrow.  Skippers meeting at Noon,
with an on-water start shortly afterwards.   Hope to see you there.

Hike

A nice shot cropped from the corner of the frame of the masthead camera.

I am not sure where I ended up in the regatta but it was a lot of fun.  I had good races and bad but I learned a lot during the regatta.  This is only my second winter sailing a laser and it has been a blast.

Some of what I learned:

Keep the boat upright- I was in the 35 degree water three times during the day.  Flipping right at the windward mark when there is a line of boats coming at you on the starboard layline is exciting

Coming in on the port layline is risky.  I was 1/2 a boat short of rounding the mark before the train of starboard tackers arrived. Result losing 15 or more boats.

30 boats regattas are fun

Get better and bigger memory card for the GoPro HD Cameras

Unfortunately, we’ve still got ice on the North East River. Our next scheduled date is January 23rd. If we have a big warm-up in the next week or two, we might be able to squeeze in something before the 23rd. I will keep you updated. In the interim, keep thinking “big melt”.

Happy New Year!

I wish the memory card did not stop working. We would of had some great shots from the top of my mast. Maybe next time.

it’s a slow process
